RAI Institute is Kuwait’s first think tank. It is a private, independent, not-for-profit institute for research and strategic studies that is dedicated to informing policy decisions through objective research and analysis, for the benefit of all Kuwaitis.

RAI Institute advocates reform through rigorous research and objective analysis of national issues and challenges in the political, economic and social landscape.

Our institute produces timely, impartial, and independent research and analysis, by collaborating with domain experts and thought leaders in the academic, political and business communities.

And, we provide an independent forum in which decision-makers and interested individuals alike can interact in an open environment. 

Finally, our think tank is an essential repository for data, information, and intelligence for its members and partners, as well as key decision makers, governmental and parliamentary officials, and members of the general public.

RAI Institute is dedicated to strengthening democracy, promoting sustainable economic policy, and advancing civil society in Kuwait, and the region.

Our goal is to create constructive discourse on the key issues that face Kuwait. We achieve this by providing objective insights on past, current and forecasted future challenges through fact-based research and analysis and informing policy makers on optimal solutions.

The institute’s objective is to be an essential source of data, information, and intelligence for its members and partners, as well as key decision makers, governmental and parliamentary officials, and members of the general public. We will employ various channels, including forums, print media and new media.

RAI Institute was founded in January 2014. RAI in Arabic means opinion, and our organization advocates the forming of opinions based on objective insights and facts.

Rai Institute is an independent institution that values independent research. We are strongly committed to our defined goals and guarantee no interference in our research, analysis and results.

Research at Rai Institute targets three areas:

  • Political
  • Economic
  • Social

Within each of these spheres, research may fall under the scope of new challenges, new angles regarding pre-existing challenges, or under-researched challenges. All research, studies and analysis adheres to by scientific objectivity, seriousness, and respects intellectual property rights.

The advisory board was established to provide a forum through which the institute can seek guidance from a group of individuals with first-hand experience in policy making. The main role of the advisory board at RAI Institute is to:

  • Develop the Institute’s annual program of activities
  • Provide unique insights on studied topics
  • Guide the direction of the institute’s research focus, in line with the valuable, experience-based perspective that they bring to RAI Institute
  • Direct and engage in thought-leadership activities
  • Contribute to publications that match their experience

Rai Institute’s annual revenue comes from the following sources:

  • Annual subscriptions
  • Unconditional sponsorships and donations
  • Events and conferences
  • Commissioned research
